Family Engagement Literacy Crosswalk

A Guide for Family-Facing Practitioners who support families and caregivers of children Birth to Age 10.

This family literacy crosswalk document was created to provide a resource aligned to multiple initiatives and statewide goals. It is presented for family-facing professionals* who serve families and children, birth to grade 5, as the primary audience.

It provides literacy guidance, suggested language, and links to additional resources, all aligned to the foundations for family engagement outlined by MiLEAP. By offering a broad overview of areas of literacy and models of interaction that are accessible, actionable, asset-based, and equitable, this resource creates a cohesive, state-wide model for two-way communication with families.

Ultimately, the goal is to establish effective partnerships with families that result in positive literacy outcomes for children.
